It takes a village.
After a lovely dinner at Capital Grill, as is always the case we had plenty of food to pack up and take home. As we were waiting for our car an elderly woman approached me and said, “Do you need that food”. I paused for a moment processing her question and coming to the conclusion that no I did not need that food. She needed that food. While I regularly donate to food banks, I realized I could do better. I’m so thankful for that question, it brought me to a deeper reality about how many people don’t have the food they need. With the world in such turmoil, it’s easy to be overwhelmed by the array of things that aren’t going as well as we’d like. I think the question is where can we make an impact? For me, this has raised my awareness and intention to open my eyes, pay attention and do what I can to lighten the load day by day. I don’t know who that woman is, but I do know she’s changed my life.
