Lessons from those whom you least expect

SETTING PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

We are highly committed to offering world-class services

Big day today.

My wife and I have the privilege of providing childcare for two of our grandchildren twice a week. She is the supervisor, and I am the assistant.

Her Amma skills are being deployed to help with the other grandchildren, so I am going solo this week. Here is the text I received last night:

“Louie gave me instructions to send you a list of rules for Tuesday and Thursday:
#1 You can’t be on your phone
#2 No working
#3 Don’t forget to make lunch
#4 Take a nap with Louie
#5 Don’t be late to pick Louie up from school
#6 You have to play hockey
#7 Play all-day
#8 Don’t get mad
#9 Don’t forget they need snacks
He verbalized this list with me before they left.”

I think I will be having an ongoing performance review throughout the day from a five-year-old.
