Trust Building
Would you agree that even good leaders make mistakes? I would, and I have made some of those mistakes along the way. I believe that one of the most precious commodities leaders must safeguard is maintaining the trust your team has in you or rebuilding it if it’s been tarnished along the way.
What does trust mean to you? To me, it means that my word and actions can be trusted, and I make decisions in the best interest of my business, customers, and the employees who deliver the results.
Do you remember a time when your trust in someone was broken?
What happened, how did you feel about it, what did you do about It, and was it ever fully repaired?
What does leadership trust look like? Here’s my list, what would you add?
· Ask for input
· Provide context for change
· Encourage and practice open communications
· Be honest and transparent
· Own up to your mistakes when you make them
“The glue that holds all relationships together–including the relationship between the leader and the led-is trust, and trust is based on integrity.” –Brian Tracy
